The U.S. And Its Involvement In Vietnam War

The United States had expressed its involvement in the Vietnam conflict since the start, even before the ’60s. The U.S. voiced its support to any country in the fight against communism. They were pursuing to prevent communism from reaching South Vietnam and the rest of Asia.

In March 1964, the American combat troops finally entered South Vietnam. The U.S. started Operation Rolling Thunder, a three-year bombing campaign that would immobilize North Vietnam’s communist leaders. By June 1964, there were already 82,000 combat troops sent. It went on as they continued to send money, supplies, and military advisers.
