The Passing of The Civil Rights Act
The Civil Rights Act was one of the main agendas of former president Kennedy. However, when he was assassinated, Lyndon B. Johnson stepped in and assumed the presidency. It turned out Johnson wasted no time to pass the act. He said that would be one of the best ways to honor Kennedy’s life.
The House of Representatives passed the bill on February 10, 1964, while the Senate passed it on June 19, 1964. Finally, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 came to life, which prohibited racial discrimination. Truly, it was one of the least we could do to honor and continue the goodness that was left.
