Janis Joplin’s Appearance At The Monterey Pop Festival
Janis Joplin was a rock, soul, and blues singer-songwriter and is one of the most successful rock stars of the ’60s. Her story can be traced back to the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967. She performed as the lead singer of then-band Big Brother and the Holding Company. She gained recognition for her powerful soprano vocals and strong stage presence.
Joplin went on to release more albums that entered the Billboard charts, including “Pearl.” With over 18.5 million albums sold, she is considered one of the top-selling musicians in the United States. Her career went to great lengths, but it’s humbling to think it all started in a pop festival.
