How Mary Quant Brought the Miniskirt Trend

Aside from the psychedelic and swinging sixties trend, the ’60s also birthed one of the biggest wardrobe shifts: miniskirts! It came with the rise of feminism and liberation. And the one person most responsible for that is Mary Quant. She is named the most iconic fashion designer of the ’60s.

Quant considered the miniskirt trend as a statement of independence and freedom. In an interview with CBC, she mentioned that the trend was timely and represented confidence and liberation. Since then, super high hemlines have been more used. It also contributed to the swinging sixties era.
