Summer of Love Took Place
In the summer of 1967, one event occurred that was later written down in history. People flocked to San Francisco’s neighborhood of Haight-Ashbury to attend the phenomenal Summer of Love. It was a social event that gathered over 100,000 people to practice more liberal norms like free love, environmentalism, and communal living.
Many people had different priorities as they attended; some were more concerned with arts, such as music, painting, and poetry, while some sought spiritual and meditative traditions. This occurrence influenced the development of similar practices like the Woodstock music festival.
