The “BBC Breakfast” star surprised viewers when she announced live on air in May 2022 that the couple had gotten engaged. Prior to his relationship with Carol, Steve had split from his wife of 12 years, Nichola Randall, with whom he shares a teenage son. On the other hand, Carol divorced her husband of 18 years, Jimmy Kirkwood, in 2008.
